Rudra Pandey, PhD.
Rudra Pandey, PhD is a pioneer in the software outsourcing industry in Nepal. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Deerwalk Inc., USA with a subsidiary in Nepal. Prior to that he was the Chief Operating Officer of Verisk Health created from the acquisition of D2Hawkeye Inc. by Verisk Analytics. Rudra was a founding partner and the Chief Technology Officer of D2Hawkeye Inc. which has one of the largest outsourcing firms in Nepal. Rudra also has significant IT experience in the financial services industry.
Despite the proliferation of colleges in Nepal, he believes that the country still lacks institutes which can impart applied knowledge by establishing close relationships with industry players. Hence, the long term vision of DWIT is to create a comprehensive learning in Nepal whose focus will be technology and its application for the benefit of the country in a variety of disciplines with close tie-ups with like minded industrial enterprises.
DWIT plans to have MOUs with reputed IT companies in Nepal such as Deerwalk Inc. so that our students can gain practical experience as interns while pursuing their studies at our Institute. This will be in addition to planned exchange programs with foreign universities so our students can benefit from exposure at foreign institutes of learning.
Rudra holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Pakistan and a PhD in Economics from Northeastern University, USA.
Surendra Nath Adhikari,
Surendra N. Adhikari comes with a wealth of experience in management, process and training, working for D2Hawkeye for several years as head of training and process.
In his role as Campus Chief of the Deerwalk Institute of Technology, he leads all the decision making processes that are focused on overall well-being of the institute and students. He, therefore, is in charge of ensuing smooth administrative functioning as well as all operational activities of DWIT. He is involved in conducting regular meetings with his administrative team, the faculty and the students.
Also, as a Chief of the Institute he is engaged in maintaining relationships with the University and rest of the academia offering similar courses. The ultimate goal, therefore, for him is to always look for ways that will ensure DWIT becomes the leading institution in Nepal offering IT and other technology related courses.
Prior to joining DWIT, Surendra played a key role in making D2Hawkeye the first CMMI certified IT company in Nepal, only one of its kind in Nepal. Earlier on, Surendra worked as a Senior Engineer and researcher for the Department of Irrigation, Nepal. He also has direct teaching experience as a Civil Engineering Lecturer at the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk.
Surendra holds a B.E. in Civil Engineering from Pulchowk, IOE and a M.Sc. in Hydraulic Engineering from Holland.
Chief Academic Officer
Hitesh Karki joined Deerwalk Institute of Technology (DWIT) as the Director of Academic Affairs and now is promoted to Chief Academic Officer. Hitesh’s core responsibility is to look after the curriculum, ensure timely execution of classes and most importantly help connect the students with the happenings of the Industry. He does this by introducing practical training that are in demand in the ever changing IT industry. These trainings are provided to students alongside the curriculum set by the University and are intended to enable students to take up jobs right after graduating from DWIT.
Hitesh also works on selection of the students, constantly interacting with the faculty and students to gather feedback to make sure DWIT’s claim to provide quality education of highest quality is met at all times.
Prior to Deerwalk, he worked as Director of Engineering at Verisk Information Technologies for 9 years. Before that, he worked at Mercantile Software where he was involved as a developer in building locally built banking software called PumoriPlus®.
He holds an MBA (Executive) from Kathmandu University and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, from Ferguson College, Pune University.
He is currently pursuing his PhD from Kathmandu University, School of Management.
