Deerwalk Institute of Technology (DWIT) recently organized a Campus Chief Summit in Kathmandu. The event was run by our own Campus Chief, Surendra Adhikari. The objective of the summit was to discuss the opportunities and challenges in IT education in Nepal.
Representatives for the major +2 colleges of Kathmandu Valley attended our Campus Chief Summit. Mr. RajendraBahadur Shrestha of the Hotel Association of Nepal, Mr. Surendra Sharma of Xavier Academy, Mr. Rajeeb Kumar Singh of White House College, Ms. Laxmi Shrestha of Golden Gate International College, Ms. SamjhanaKharel of Kanjirowa National School, Mr. Surendra Shrestha of Pulchowk Campus, Mr. Dilli Prasad Sharma of Prime College and other attendees participated in the discussions.
The key point raised in discussion was the need for a linkage between academia and industry in modern education. The attendees of the summit agreed that a practical foundation is just as important for a college student as a theoretical foundation.
Campus Chief Summit PhotoSurendra Adhikari presented DWIT’s strength in the academia-industry link by highlighting that DWIT College was formed by a collaboration between local entrepreneurs and the USA based company, Deerwalk Inc. Surendra elaborated on the variety of projects and paid internships students will receive at DWIT. These factors will prepare students for job opportunities at Deerwalk and beyond, upon graduation.
DWIT is offering our B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology (B. Sc. CSIT) program from the 2011 academic year. We are working as the affiliate of Nepal’s oldest and most prestigious: Tribhuvan University.
